Douglas Kentās comments in the online article āBAA forced to remove plastic windows from listed buildingā (23 August) are just the type of misinformed remarks weāve come to expect from the anti-PVC brigade.
PVC is low-maintenance, long-lasting, recyclable and sustainable. When installed in harmony with a property it can add value and character. PVCu windows have evolved.
We can resolve the issue simply. I challenge doubters to distinguish from the roadside between an appropriately designed timber and PVCu sash window installed in period properties. Will anyone take up the challenge?
Itās energy-efficient too ā most of the British Fenestration Rating Councilās top A to C-rated windows are made with PVCu, cutting carbon emissions and cutting homeownersā fuel bills.
