The expansion masterplan for Heathrow airport unveiled last week was the product of a most unusual design team – a multidisciplinary alliance of 800 individuals

β€˜At the outset, we had some real issues with territorial stuff: β€˜We have the world’s best expertise,’ β€˜No, we have the world’s best expertise,’” says Barry Weekes, head of design for Heathrow airport, remembering back to when he first formed the innovative alliance behind the airport’s new masterplan for Β£32.5bn of works. β€œAll multidisciplinaries come with a belief they can do everything.”
