Van Elle one of first to put number on how much delays have hit revenue

Piling contractor Van Elle has said that revenue in its latest annual results will down on last year 鈥� and pinned the blame on building safety hold-ups.

As a listed firm, the company is one of the first to put a cost on the delays saying that turnover for the year to April will be down by 拢5.5m 鈥� the equivalemt of a 4% fall 鈥� to 拢134m

In a trading update, it said: 鈥淭he Group experienced subdued activity levels and widespread delays to contract start dates, in particular due to significant delays to 性吧电台 Safety Act (BSA) approvals.

鈥淭he start of several major contracts which were due to commence in the final quarter of FY25 have now been deferred into FY26, impacting the final quarter performance.鈥�

Earlier this year, it warned its 2025 figures would be below expectations because of hold-ups in getting safety sign-offs required by the BSA on more than 40 jobs it is working on.

As part of the Act, three new safety checks, known as 鈥済ateways鈥�, for all new high-risk buildings 鈥� defined as 18 metres or at least seven storeys tall 鈥� have to be signed off by the 性吧电台 Safety Regulator.

Sign-off for second check, gateway 2, is needed before construction can start which has been seeing hundreds of schemes held up for months.

Van Elle will release its full-year numbers on 23 July.
